If the gene for color vision is found on the X chromosome is damaged, then a person may not be able to see some colors
This disorder is passed down by having a baby
Inheritance and Incidence:
It is uncommon for a woman to have color blindness because they have two X chromosomes, so there is a half the chance of woman having color blindness because both of the X chromosomes would have to be infected only the damaged copy
If a carrier mother had a baby with an affected father, then the chance of having a color blind child is about 1:4
If an affected father had a baby with an unaffected mother, then the chances would still be 1:4
If a carrier mother had a baby with an affected dad, then the odds would be about 1:2
If an affected dad had a baby with an affected mother, then the baby would almost certainly have an affected baby
Treatment and Symptoms:
This disorder can be treated easily by tinted lenses of glasses or contacts. A cure for the disorder is not really needed, because the disorder is pretty easy to live with, considering that all it does is tint a certain color slightly.
